The Findlay Fire Department provides the following primary emergency responses to the City of Findlay and, through mutual aid agreements, to the surrounding townships and villages in Hancock County and to other nearby cities:
- fire suppression
- emergency medical services
- hazardous materials—operations level
- rescue services
- natural disaster response
The department provides non-emergency services including:
- public fire safety education
- fire code enforcement
- fire investigation
The Findlay Fire Department is comprised of 61 full paid professionals staffing four fire stations and the Fire Prevention Bureau.
Each station is staffed by three shifts of firefighters rotating 24 hours on duty, 48 hours off duty. All firefighters are trained in First Responder Medical, Rope Rescue, Confined Space Rescue, Hazardous Materials Operational, CPR and several other areas of expertise.
All firefighters hired complete basic training at the Ohio Fire Academy in Reynoldsburg, Ohio. Firefighters are trained in Level I and Level II classes and obtain an EMT Basic Certification.
Candidates for employment with the Findlay Fire Department are subject to the requirements of the Civil Service Commission.
