Home MenuDowntown Banners
As of January 1, 2024, the Downtown banner program will no longer be in effect.
The Hometown Hero Banner program will continue.
Dear Downtown Banner and Street Painting Program Participant,
Over the past decade, the City of Findlay has utilized the downtown banners to promote nonprofit organizations within the City of Findlay. I believe this has been a great program that has brought awareness to many organizations, however, due to the continued confusion and objection of the public related to the City promoting various contentious topics, I have decided to transition the banners to more neutral community-oriented displays. This was not an easy decision as I truly love seeing the variety of groups we have in our community on display, but as I have talked to various residents, visitors, etc., the banners and street painting, at times, did not represent our community’s welcoming mindset as was desired.
This change will take effect January 1, 2024. Banners and paintings that are currently scheduled through 2023 will still occur. I know this news may be disappointing, but I know your group will continue to get your mission, vision, and goals out to our community through other channels. If you would like to discuss this issue with me more, please do not hesitate to reach out via phone 419-424-7137 or email cmuryn@findlayohio.gov.
Though I do not know the specific banners that will be displayed throughout the year, they will most likely consist of celebrations of annual holidays/seasons, our Hometown Hero banners, and other district/public info.
Your banners will be available to pick up at the Street Department, 330 North Cory Street, Monday-Friday from 7:30am-3pm.
Thank you for your understanding.
Sincerely,
Mayor Christina Muryn
