2023 - For the ninth consecutive year, Findlay, Ohio has been ranked the top micropolitan community in the U.S. for new and expanding facilities by Site Selection magazine, the official publication of the Global FDI Association and the Industrial Asset Management Council. The magazine ranked 575 of the nation’s micropolitan areas, cities of 10,000 to 50,000 people which cover at least one county. Rankings are based on qualified projects that have met one of the three criteria: at least $1 MM invested, 20 or more jobs created or 20,000 or more square feet constructed. (Link to news article)
2021 - Findlay received the official BETTER CITIES FOR PETS™ certification, as part of the Mars Petcare BETTER CITIES FOR PETS™ program, showcasing its commitment to creating a pet-friendly community. 2019 - Findlay is ranked #7 out of 531 on the Walton Foundation report: The Most Dynamic Micropolitans Index. Released by the The Walton Family Foundation in 2019, this is new research that benchmarks the economic growth, prosperity, and inclusion of the United States’ micropolitan areas, showing that even with a range of success and challenges, America’s small towns have big-time potential in today’s economy. 2018-19 - Ohio Magazine chose Findlay as one of its 13th annual Best Hometowns because of its strong business environment, welcoming sense of community and thriving downtown. To determine the honorees, Ohio Magazine solicited nominations and conducted site visits across the state. The editors evaluated the nominees in six categories — Community Spirit, Education, Entertainment, Health and Safety, Business Environment and Culture and Heritage — to help finalize their selections. Findlay had previously been named an Ohio Magazine’s Best Hometown in 2012-2013.
2019 - The City of Findlay was awarded a $100,000 grant from the U.S. Conference of Mayors as part of its Childhood Obesity Prevention Award program, in partnership with American Beverage Foundation for a Healthy America. The grant monies be will used to increase access to physical activity for children and youth, by expanding the existing Keep Active…Keep Healthy program.
2018 - In September of 2018, Findlay hosted the first ever Miracle League All-Star game at the Blanchard Valley Health System Miracle Park. Each Miracle League organization across the globe has the opportunity to select one player to attend this once in a lifetime opportunity. Ninety players from across the US and Canada participated in the event. Activities included: Welcome Reception, Opening Ceremony, Introduction of Players, All-Star games, and an Awards Gala. 2018 - The City was awarded a grant from the AARP Community Challenge program to provide enhancements to the newly constructed pickleball courts at Riverside park. The grant funds were used to purchase windscreens, bleachers and benches. See our AARP Community Challenge award video.
